The purpose of this course introduces instructor candidates to the history, structure and activities of the American Red Cross. It prepares instructor candidates to teach ARC speciality courses such as Adult CPR/AED to diverse populations; and reviews the policies and procedures of the Red Cross.
This course is a prerequisite to all American Red Cross Instructor Courses. It is not needed to become an American Red Cross Leader. The age prerequisite will vary based on the instructor speciality.
An instructor candidate must complete an instructor speciality course within one year of completing Fundamentals of Instructor Training. Certificate remains valid as long as individual holds a current American Red Cross instructor authorization.
Participants registering for WSI or LGI in the Western CT Chapter - need not register for FIT as it will be included within the dates of your specialty course.
