This course is designed for individuals 16 years and older who possess a current Fundamentals of Instructor Training authorization or a current National Health and Safety Instructor authorization. The course teaches instructor candidates to plan, organize and conduct basic-level American Red Cross First Aid, CPR and AED courses for lay responders.
Each instructor candidate must attend and pass each section of the precourse written exam with a score of 80 percent or higher on each component and successfully demonstrate competency in the skills evaluation in accordance with the established skill standards. Upon successful completion of the precourse exams the candidate will be able to participate in the Lay Responder First Aid and CPR/AED Instructor Course.
